Helena Gagern is the co-founder of Salsa, a community platform for live events powered by wed by web3. She went from zero tech knowledge to teaching coding, building an edtech platform, becoming a product manager, and joining a startup accelerator. When her own AI project failed, she jumped head-first down the web3 rabbit hole in 2021 after seeing the challenges her mom faced as an author. A true Renaissance woman, Helena is a certified dive teacher, a wannabe DJ, and spent two months driving a car rally across 27 countries from London to Mongolia.
In the first-ever episode, Alex and Helena touched on the thread that brings people into crypto. They also talked about the windy road to starting Salsa, the secret to hosting successful web3 dinners, and how to connect artists and superfans onchain.
“What we share in common is what makes us want to connect with each other” — making this visible is what keeps Helena in the space.
Web3 dinners are one way to foster and strengthen these onchain connections IRL.
Meanwhile, bringing the IRL connections onchain is the focus on Helena’s project Salsa.
Why build a web3 consumer app?
“Building a regular consumer app is war. In web3, no one knows the future, and we’re all building it together,” Helena says.
